Hidden Trails Estates’ Recreational Amenities

Ø      Herrick Reservoir & Cascade Lake are the more popular bodies of water in the area.  But other jewels, like the Horsethief and Deadwood Reservoirs and Payette and Warm Lakes are also easily accessible from HTE.  Some are designated non-motorized and provide a serene setting with camping available on the shore side.  Still more allow motorized boating and provide ample choices for fishing and various water recreation like jet skiing, water skiing, wakeboarding and wake surfing.  HTE provides a number of service to help maximized your day on the water, from pre-fueling your toys to the nitty-gritty of clean up and storage…HTE General Managers Shane and Casey will personally assure your toys are cared for properly.  It’s all part of the Premium Amenity Package!

Ø      The mighty Payette river system connects many of these bodies of water to each other and their tributaries.  The Payette River itself offers everything from quiet fly-fishing holes to some of the nation’s most challenging whitewater.  This waterway represents one of Idaho’s biggest attractions and provides water for irrigation and drinking.  Accessing the Payette River system from HTE is very easy.  The Cabarton section of the Payette River is one of the most popular floats.  It is a nine mile stretch of generally tame water, culminating in a series of Class II and III rapids and climaxing near the very end into Howard’s Plunge!  HTE is conveniently situated between the put in at Cabarton and the take out in Smith’s Ferry.  There is also the option to access the calm waters south of the town of Cascade (home of the future Cascade Whitewater Park); Or find some great fishing on the north side of town.  Many guided services are available on the water, from lake and river guided fishing trips to whitewater rafting adventures trips, ask your HTE managers how to plan for your day on the water!

Ø      Gold Fork, Bernard, Laurel, White Licks, Krigbaum and Burgdorf are just some of the many hot springs within a short drive of HTE.  Some are commercial operations that charge a fee for use, while others are mire remote and free to the public.  Make a day of exploring a new hot spring and enjoy one of Idaho’s greatest natural treasures. HTE managers Shane and Casey assist Premium amenity Package owners with mapping their day to the hot springs of their choice.  Each one is a new adventure as you discover Idaho!

Ø      Snowmobile trails take off from the front steps of HTE.  Just down the groomed road is Smith's Ferry and the Wellington Snow Park offers 400 miles of trails, 250 of which are groomed, with access to McCall, Cascade, Ola, Stanley, Warm Lake and Garden Valley. The Winter Wonderland Trail leaves the mountain meadows of Smith's Ferry, weaves past the towns of Cascade and Donnelly past spectacular scenic vistas at over 7,900 feet before reaching McCall. Ø      Nordic Skiing and Snowshoeing is available immediately out your back door when you reside at HTE.  There are also a number of commercial operations in driving distance, including Tamarack Resort, Jug Mountain Ranch, Ponderosa State Park and Little Ski Hill.  Most all maintain groomed trails and food & beverage services.

Ø      Alpine Skiing is also one of the area’s hot recreation options in the Winter!  Tamarack Resort, Brundage Mountain Resort and Little Ski Hill all offer unique alpine skiing experiences.  Get outside under our sunny blue skies. If gravity moves you, try our feather-light powder and short lift lines. With three mountains to choose from, there's something for every taste and ability.

Ø      Idaho is a haven for a wide range of wildlife, with many reserves to visit. The diverse landscape provides many opportunities to view animals and birds in their natural habitat, as well.  Seasonal Mushroom Hunting yields tasty treats like Morels, and Idaho is home to roughly 40 varieties of edible mushrooms.  There are many ways to pursue outdoor adventures from HTE.  Hiking and Biking commence from the front steps of HTE and take you on a variety of adventures thru State and National Forest lands.  Getting into the backcountry has never been easier when you live and vacation at HTE! 

Ø       Guests and Owners at HTE may also enjoy motorized recreational opportunities right from their back doors.  Ride your way into Idaho’s backcountry and rest assured you can find the last minute services you need from HTE, like oil and fuel for your favorite ATV or 4X4.  When the day’s over, Premium Package Owners enjoy HTE’s signature TimeSaver Service, including motorized vehicle cleaning and storage.  No wasting precious vacation time!

Ø      Take a scenic train ride and see Idaho from a different perspective.
